FISHING REPORT FRIDAY 7TH MAY

ESTUARY – With the weather this week not being to favorable to go offshore most fishos have been hitting the river and getting some good catches of flathead in most of our estuary’s. Chambers island has been a popular spot to target these fish as well as  the inside of the river mouths. Drifted baits like whitebait and hearing are working well along with slowly worked soft plastics and the odd trolling lure. Bream have been a target in the cod hole and around mooloolabah wharf. Tailor are starting to show up in better numbers as the cooler waters start to arrive. They are spread along the beaches but best bet is around the river mouths as the dirty water is getting pushed in and out and also in your deeper gutters along the beach. Trevally on poppers around pt cartwright.

OFFSHORE – Conditions as i said not the best this week but early on this week some big Spanish mackerel were caught. A 27kg specimen was caught at caloundra 12 mile. These fish have quietened off a bit but the fish that seem to be still here are big. Although the water may be getting cooler i did see on the news last night that spottie mackeral are still here in good numbers. The reefs are fishing well mainly in close for your parrot, sweetlip, pearl perch. moses perch and cod.

catch you next week,  ben
